About the Club

Established in 1987, MASCOT NQ has developed into a friendly and active club with 37 current financial members supported by a dedicated and hardworking committee.

Our membership ranges from juniors through to senior pilots, creating a welcoming environment for flyers of all ages and experience levels.

Experienced instructors are available to assist newcomers and developing pilots with both fixed-wing and rotary model aircraft.

Our History

In 2005 MASCOT NQ lost their airfield just outside of Emerald Creek to a proposed sawmill development. This left MASCOT NQ with no airfield and a declining membership.

The club flew on private property for a number of years until in 2010 MASCOT NQ was successful with an application to Tablelands Regional Council (TRC), for an allocation of suitable land to use as a flying field. TRC granted MASCOT NQ a permit to occupy a large area of prime flying real estate, as some may call it, and with this new field MASCOT NQ set about developing the flying site and membership with member numbers growing from 6 in 2005 to over 50 in 2014.

The new field has been named "Adil Field" and is registered with the MAAA Model Aeronautical Association of Australia, and CASA Civil Aviation Safety Authority. Field operating times are from 7am to dusk, 7 days a week with a height limit of 1000 feet (300 metres) AGL. The field is for the use of MASCOT NQ members, and visiting MAAA members by appointment. Visiting MAAA members must contact MASCOT NQ regarding access to the field.
